FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE City of Amsterdam Expands Green Machine FleetSeptember 30, 2000 The City of Amsterdam has just announced the purchase of a further ten new model 424HS 'High Speed' Green Machines. The flagship model sweeper from Applied Sweepers was developed with the input of the City of Amsterdam. In selecting equipment to replace its aging fleet of model 414RS Green Machines, the City was faced with the added cost of also replacing the 17 electric carts which shuttled the Green Machines from the City's central depot to various widely-spread districts. Having evaluated other equipment on the market last year, the City of Amsterdam felt that nothing existed at the time which met their needs. Hence the design team at Applied Sweepers worked closely with the City's engineers and the result was the model 424HS, which with a 10 mph (16 km/h) top speed and excellent stability and ride, removed the need for a supplementary means of transportation. Having acquired an initial five model 424HS Green Machines last spring, the City has just ordered an additional ten units which are pictured below. This order follows a six month in-service evaluation of the operation of the first five units, which the City has judged as a great success.
